The Manifesto
If you are what you eat, then shouldn’t you be conscious of what you consume? We believe that the answer is yes! Not only for the well being of your physical body but also for the earth as a whole. The human species has become increasingly disconnected from the sources of their food. Especially in America we live in a culture where convenience often trumps quality. We are now raising a generation of children that don’t know how a carrot grows or where an apple comes from. Here at Olive and Peach we firmly believe that it is not too late, but the changes must begin now and they begin with you. This means taking the time to consider where you purchase your food. This means logging onto the internet to look up what terms like “natural”, “GMO” and “organic” actually mean according to the FDA. This means being conscious of how much energy you are using, what’s in the air you are breathing and what gets deposited into the soil around where you live. It means you have to consider what the cow’s life was like before it got to the Styrofoam package at the grocery store sans blood, fat and bone. It means questioning how sugar goes from being a plant to the snow-white powder that you bake with and pour into your coffee. It means taking into consideration the long term, the earth as it will be for your grandchildren and great grandchildren. Be bold, get involved and take a stand for our greatest natural resource, mother earth herself.
In this section of our site we will highlight different individuals and organizations that are working towards the well being of our precious planet. Whether it is through recyclable packaging, sustainable agriculture, organic farming or the promotion of organic and local products, education or some other vein we hope to spread the message of people who are making a difference.
